Services
Elvington Medical Practice serves over 7,200 patients, within Elvington and neighbouring villages to the south east of York.
The Practice prides itself on being a central and active part of the community and providing patients with a personal and professional service.
There has been a medical presence in the village for nearly 200 years.
We provide a range of primary health services to our community, and provide a base from which nurses, midwives, physiotherapists and health visitors operate.

As far back as 1823 a surgeon apothecary called Thomas Gilmore was the first recorded medical practitioner in the village.
Later in the 1820's William Dickson, surgeon, practised from Albion House, now Glen House, and he was succeeded by his son John Dickson in 1861.
In 1881, surgeon Mr William von Beverhoudt, MRCS, LRCP, married Harriet Whittaker whose family lived at the Hall from where he practised.
Later, a Dr Herkloz practised from the Villa and in 1913 Dr Charles Lower practised from Glen House.

Some items will need to be ordered from our supplier which adds time to the processing of your prescription.
The current prescription fee is 9.35.
The Practice can accept cheques, cash or card payments for the services it provides, including dispensed medication.
Please make cheques payable to Elvington Medical Practice.
Our doctors periodically review repeat medications, and may request that you attend an appointment to ensure that all prescribing is safely monitored.

Every day we have an Urgent care GP who has allocated availability to deal with urgent needs, and will speak to patients over the phone to help determine what type of care they need.
