Millway Medical Practice
The practice began in 1972 by the amalgamation of 3 single handed practices. It was situated in a house in the Millway until 1998 when it moved to the current 3 storey modern building on Hartley Avenue which it shares with community staff of Barnet Primary Care Trust who occupy most of the 2nd floor. We are a group practice of nine partners covering 18,500 patients.

We are committed to providing comprehensive, high quality medical care through an efficient friendly practice team. For more information visit the About Us page. Owned and run by the NHS, the NHS App is a simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet - including prescriptions and appointments. We want to help you get the right medical assistance when you're ill, injured or have a long term condition.

Going directly to the person with the appropriate skills is important. This can help you to a speedier recovery and makes sure all NHS services are run efficiently.
Services
There is a 'Pay & Display' Car Park at the Practice managed by Euro Car Parks Ltd. with whom any queries should be raised.
Parking in the car park is entirely at patients' risk.
Disabled badge holders can park in the designated disabled bays for free when they visit the surgery.
Please show your disabled badge to the receptionists on the ground floor so you can be registered.
If you fail to register your badge with reception you will get a parking ticket.
There are many services available to help you to stay healthy.
Some of these services can be accessed directly (see below), and for others you need to be registered with a GP Practice (Surgery).
When you wish to consult a GP about your medical condition, you need to contact the Surgery with which you are registered to arrange to be seen.
If you go along to the Surgery and do not have an appointment, you may not be seen.
The Practice may ask you to come back at another time, or may suggest that you are seen by another Healthcare Professional.
Millway Medical Practice is approved by Health Education England (HEE) to be a Training practice with certain GPs approved to be trainers.
This means we have a variety of learners at the practice seeing patients under the supervision of an experienced GP.
GP Specialist Registrar (SpR): This is a fully qualified doctor who has completed their foundation training in hospital and are now specialising in General Practice.
During their time at Millway they will be consulting with patients whilst also studying for their speciality exams to become a Member of the Royal Collage of General Practitioners (MRCGP).
The buddy system consists of 3 groups of doctors; each team looks after the patients within that group if one of the members is absent for example during annual leave.
Every patient has a usual GP or has been allocated a named GP.
The buddy system is based on who the usual GP is and which team they belong to.
For example if your usual GP is Dr Hall then you belong to the Green Team and can be cared for in Dr Hall's absence by Dr's Patel, Grattan and/or Sharland.
These groups meet regularly and any concerns can then be passed on to your usual GP, if necessary when they return.
Practice Nurses are fully trained in a wide range of skills including immunisations, health promotion, contraception and management of long-term conditions e.g.
Our Practice Nurses Gail Nolan, Barbara Fletcher, Claire Yager, Ekene Taylor and Emily Timbrell run their own surgeries for practical nursing procedures and chronic diseases such as Asthma, COPD and Hypertension (see Our Clinics for the full list).
Practice based clinical pharmacists are highly qualified experts in medicines and can help people in a range of ways.

Report
The Millway Medical practice provided excellent services to my daughter today. The receptionist was patient and helpful. I got a call back very promptly and the staff over the phone listened very patiently and tried to help me with great care. I would like to thank Dr Nikesh Patel especially for his care and professional services to my daughter. He examined my daughter’s case and explained his diagnosis to us with great care and detail. His kind and professional way of handling my daughter’s case make her feel assured and much better even though she was feeling very unwell.
