If you need an appointment please call the practice on 017687 72025. Face to face appointments are available to all patients, but you will be asked to discuss your conditions over the phone with a clinician first to assess what would be most appropriate for you. If you are asked to come into the surgery for a face-to-face appointment, please remember to wear a face covering.

Measures are in place to keep you safe from infection during your visit to the surgery. Please do not come to the surgery unless you have an appointment. Welcome to Castlehead Medical Centre, providing primary care for Keswick and surrounding areas. We hope you take your time to browse our website where you will find lots of useful information about the surgery and the services we offer.

To assist our colleagues at 111 and CHOC the practice will still be taking telephone calls.
Services
Patients should telephone during normal opening hours for an appointment.
Or, you can book appointments online via Patient Access or by using the mobile phone app MyGP.
You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice.
Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.
You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP.
You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
To register as a patient ask at reception for details.
Newly registered patients will be invited for a consultation within 6 months of registering.
If you wish to choose to see a particular doctor for some or all medical conditions please let the receptionist know and she will note this in your medical records.
We will always try to ensure that this is possible, but there may be occasions when it is not.
The Royal College of General Practitioners has produced a useful guide for patients about the services on offer at GP Surgeries and how to access them.
If you are visiting the area and need medical attention or advice, the receptionist will signpost you to the most appropriate service.
As part of the GP Forward View, we utilise many appropriate services for signposting not just for visitors, but our own patients too.
This gives GPs time to deal with more complex cases and ongoing chronic disease management.
We may request that visitors contact the local pharmacy, NHS 111 or their own GP practice - whichever may be the correct pathway for the patient.
We are always pleased to receive suggestions for improving our services and we like getting compliments as well.
We hope you will never have cause for serious complaint but if you do, we have a complaints procedure aimed at quick resolution of problems.
Please initially either speak directly to your GP or write to our Practice Manager(s).
The doctors and staff at Castlehead Medical Centre strive to deliver high quality patient care at all times and in all areas of contact with the patient or patient's representative, and are realistic enough to appreciate that there are times when less than efficient service may be given or instances when the patient is less than happy with the service he has received.
The Practice and Dispensary will be closed in the afternoon on the following dates for Protected Learning Time for Staff Development.
If you have an urgent medical problem which cannot wait until the surgery re-opens, please dial 111 to access the out of hours service.
NHS 111 is free to call from both landlines and mobiles.
