Over recent months, the open access of eConsult via our website, has significantly increased the demand on our services. In order to maintain safe working practice, we are reducing the availability of eConsult on weekends and Bank holidays. Please note, you can access 111 online or call 111 for urgent medical attention when the practice is closed.

You may be asked to leave and re-book your appointment if you do not have a face covering. Please only attend the practice if you have a pre-booked appointment. We are conscious that some patients registered here at St Georges may be affected by current events in Afghanistan. St Georges Medical Practice is accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners as one which specialises in the care of military veterans and their families.

All the team have been trained in the care of military veterans and their families. If recent events have affected you and you wish to seek help, please come forward. Before you book an appointment, please check if your care could be navigated to an alternative service which may be more appropriate than an appointment with a GP.
Services
During normal practice opening hours the practice remains your first point of contact for all routine requests.
NHS 111 is the number to call when you need medical help fast but it's not a life-threatening emergency.
In addition to dispensing prescriptions the large network of community pharmacies across Co Durham and Darlington provide a wide range of services e.g.
We recommend that you telephone a pharmacy to check they can provide the service you need before you set off.
Liz Stewart is responsible for the day-to-day running of the practice.
She will be happy to discuss any non-medical problems that you may have and also receive any suggestions for improving the services offered.
The partners employ an Assistant Practice Manager, Lynsey, two medical secretaries and six medical receptionists who are fully trained to deal with your needs.
They make appointments, take messages, arrange repeat prescriptions, book home visits and inform patients of test results, where appropriate, when the doctors have seen and approved them.
We now have the facility as a practice to allow patients to book Nurses and HCA appointments online.
We will also be releasing appointments throughout the year for specific clinics such as in flu season we will have online flu appointments available.
We hope this will make it easier for patients to access the appointment of their choice and to be able to do so without having to ring our reception team.
Please read the below information.
If you still feel that you need an appointment after reading this, why not try an e-consultation with one of our GP's - with a guaranteed response by the end of the next working day.
If you are over 16 and have any musculoskeletal joint aches, pains or sprains - you can self-refer to the Darlington Musculoskeletal Service by calling 01325 728988.
Musculoskeletal physiotherapists diagnose, assess and treat conditions relating to joints, ligaments, muscles, nerves, tendons and structures that support limbs.
A Carer is someone who, without payment, provides care and support to a partner, disabled child, relative friend or neighbour who could not manage without their help.
If you're not sure where to turn and which services you need we can give you lots of information and advice on what is out there to help support you and the person you care for.
We also offer support with accessing the relevant welfare benefits, taking a break, grants to help fund essential items and transport costs, help with completing forms such as blue badge and Council Tax reductions and we also offer a free counselling service to Carers if you need extra support around your caring role.
