We also have patient care advisors who specialise in repeat prescribing. Patients at Blacketts are given a named GP who is responsible for your overall care at the practice. We will make every effort possible to allow a preference in your named GP, but this is not always possible due to fairness in the GP workload. We know that patients value continuity of care and we would encourage patients to see the same doctor if possible. Our appointments system allows patients to see a health professional within an appropriate time frame.

Previously called Netherlaw Surgery, Blacketts have served patients of Darlington for 85 years.
The old premises were located on Stanhope Road but in 2004 we moved to our custom built medical practice on Bondgate.
The new building was specifically designed with the patient in mind.
Blacketts Pub which occupied our building between 1976-2000.
The premises were originally the headquarters of R. Blackett & Son Ltd., a brick manufacturer and builder, and the connection is commemorated in the Practice's new gates which depict stethoscopes and building bricks.

If you have an extended hours appointment on a Wednesday evening, the reception will be open till 7:30pm.
If you have an extended hours appointment before 8:00am in the morning, please ring the bell at the staff entrance, opposite the chemist.
For patients who are unable to attend during normal working times, appointments are available with the nurse every Tuesday morning from 07:30am.
You can also access GP appointments from 07:30am on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning and late evening appointments on a Wednesday evening.
