Services
This is a new universal number for out of hours.
You will be asked some questions to assess your symptoms and then directed to a local service that can help you best.
OurNet are commissioned to provide cover for our practice on a Friday afternoon from 1.00pm - 6.30pm.
NHS Walsall Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has worked with local GPs to create four Hubs based at Darlaston Health Centre, Pinfold Health Centre, Broadway Medical Practice and Portland Medical Practice.
The Hubs are currently run by a group of local GPS.
A Carer is anyone, including children and adults who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support.
The care they give is unpaid.
When we refer to carers in this document, this is inclusive of both adult and young carers.
Many carers don't see themselves as carers and it takes them an average of two years to acknowledge their role as a carer.
It can be difficult for carers to see their caring role as separate from the relationship they have with the person for whom they care, whether that relationship is as a parent, child, sibling, partner, or a friend.
The group meets approximately every quarter.
It is an opportunity for patients to discuss any concerns or make suggestions that they might feel might improve the services at the surgery.
We also hold regular health information sessions and you can also become a virtual member.
To register your interest, please leave your details at reception and an invite will be sent to you for the next meeting.
Please check with the surgery before attending as in exceptional circumstances the meetings could be cancelled/postponed.
We offer a repeat prescribing service.
You can order online, by fax or in writing (please provide a stamped addressed envelope for requests that require posting).
Alternatively you can bring your written request into surgery or use the white part to your prescription and hand this in at reception.
We are also registered to the electronic prescribing service.
This service enables you to nominate a chemist and have your prescription electronically sent to them.
You still need to order in your usual way.
The practice is helping support women of child bearing age who are thinking if becoming pregnant.
There is evidence that a healthy pregnancy is strongly influenced by a women's health status.
We can help with stopping smoking, weight management support and advice and managing Diabetes/Gestational Diabetes.
When a baby is developing during early pregnancy, folic acid helps form the neural tube.
Folic acid is very important because it can help prevent some major birth defects of the baby's brain (anencephaly) and spine (spina bifida).
